Leaves are falling

Leaves are falling to the ground. The wind's lament drifts by. Deep and mournful is its sound. Who leads my heart's long sigh? With heavy lids and weary eyes, I watch the moon's pale face. Roosters call as night denies the shadow's Dark embrace. Dawn Approaches, blue and clear. Stars scatter their light above. I'd make a wish if it were near, But what should I dream of? What to wish for in this life when home And fate seem bleak? I long for beauty amidst this strife, A fair face I seek. With cornflower eyes so true, For me and me alone. With words both tender, fresh, And new to calm the heart I own. Beneath this silver moonlit sky, Content with what may be. No melancholy songs, no sigh for what once Haunted me. No more would I look back with pain on Youth that slipped away. When others joy I might attain in my own Light of day.
