Broken Wings

Feathers fall, heart beat stalling, No air. Wings clipped, dreams ripped, life don't care. Shadows creeping, eyelids heavy, So bare. Tears flood the room, drowning despair. Broken wings, I can't ascend. Falling down, no place to mend. Pain my currency, time I spend. Hope feels too far to comprehend. Chains on the spirit, tethered to pain. Thunderhead thoughts, drowning in rain. Voice echoes silent, scream through the drain. Hollow chest cavity, etched with disdain. Heartstrings frayed, melody cracked. Memory tapes rewind abstract. Every moment to fade to black. Clinging to hope, but the grip intact. Broken wings, I can't ascend. Falling down, no place to mend. Pain my currency, time I spend. Hope feels too far to comprehend.
