Endless Night

In a village wrapped in endless night, Where stars were veiled and candles died, Lived a boy with courage bright, Though the world was cold and wide. Whispers spoke of a beast so bold, That stole the sun, the moon, the gold. It hid the light, both new and bold, And left the land in shadows cold. He walked through fog, through haunted trees, where Fear would bind and silence please. With torch in hand and heart that sees, he'd Face the dark on bended knees. The path grew black, the air grew thin, the Howl arose from deep within. Eyes like coals began to grin, as the monster Stirred from its den. "Why come you here?" the beast did roar. "To die like all who came before." The boy stood still, then spoke once more, "I Come for light, not fear. I'm here." He faced the beast with truth so Clear, no sword, no spell, just hope held dear. He lit a flame, the dark drew near, but Light returned, the end was near. And from that day, the dawn arose, Warm and golden, free from woes. The boy who dared, the boy who knows, He brought the light Where darkness goes.
