Our district resembled a place divine Where nature's beauty intertwined The surf recited verses with grace Like an orator without a trace Forest folded down to the shore To watch the waves in a rhythmic dance Not one to trouble nor to ignore The spirit of homes kept in a trance Oh Zmeynka sweet Zmeynka Just a paradise a rural wink-a Every girl a picture so fine Every boy a little rogue in line As a lad on that Zmeynka I trod every path and drink-a Drunk on her beauty the ocean's sway Falling in love with the bay But progress with its cruel hand Maimed the beauty of our land Where woods would whisper soft and low Now the racetrack's roar doth grow The village spirit swept away By an excavator's deadly sway In revenge they built tall blocks Twenty doors to the same locks Oh Zmeynka sweet Zmeynka Just a paradise a rural wink-a Every girl a picture so fine Every boy a little rogue in line As a lad on that Zmeynka I trod every path and drink-a Drunk on her beauty the ocean's sway Falling in love with the bay The air grew heavy thickened with lead The emerald flora now seemed dead In daylight that color’s hard to locate Not a breeze for the wind to sate Walls surround like fences tight Who can blame for this blight For the stolen space sighing forlorn In the echoes of what had been born Oh Zmeynka sweet Zmeynka Just a paradise a rural wink-a Every girl a picture so fine Every boy a little rogue in line As a lad on that Zmeynka I trod every path and drink-a Drunk on her beauty the ocean's sway Falling in love with the bay Oh Zmeynka sweet Zmeynka Just a paradise a rural wink-a Every girl a picture so fine Every boy a little rogue in line As a lad on that Zmeynka I trod every path and drink-a Drunk on her beauty the ocean's sway Falling in love with the bay
