Autumn Rain

The morning sky is cold and gray. The summer leaves are blown away. I watch the world behind the glass And watch the fleeting shadows pass. The air is crisp, the streets are bare. A quiet sorrow Everywhere. Oh, autumn rain, Fall down on me, Wash all the dust from what used to be. A gentle rhythm on the pane. Singing a softly soothing strain. Fall through the night, Fall through the day. Wash all my heavy thoughts away. Autumn rain. Every drop tells a story of old. Of stories left unfinished and cold. It whispers secrets to the ground without voice, Without a sound. Just let it fall Against the wall. The quiet gray of autumn days. Wash it away. Rain.
