O Lux Quieta

In the hush before the morning, I lay my hands upon the stone. A quiet breath crosses the water, And carries what I Cannot hold. Oh, let the stillness shelter me. Let the old river turn And run. Through every room I leave Behind, Toward the quiet, Toward the sun. The cedar keeps its winter story. The well holds every falling leaf. I hear your name beneath the Silence. A small bell Sounding through my grief. Oh, Let the stillness shelter me. Let the old river turn And run. Through every room I leave Behind, Toward the quiet, Toward the sun. Toward the quiet Toward the sun. The water carries What is done.
