I Thought I Had More Time

When I was young, I never counted The years slipping through my hands. I thought there'd Tomorrow, always time for bigger Plans. I watched my children growing older, But somehow I never saw The little moments I was Living Were the greatest of them all. Nobody tells you when you're younger How fast forever Goes. I thought I had more time, More sunsets left to see, More chances to tell the ones I love What they mean to me. I thought tomorrow would be waiting Like it always did before. Now every day feels like a blessing I can't ignore. I lost the woman that I loved most And suddenly time stood still. Charlie became a man before me. Rose grew up against my will. Now all for a grass in my knee Of days I thought would never end. And I'd give everything I own To have just one Again. The Bible says our lives are vapor, Here today and quickly gone. So hold the ones God gave you closely Before the moment's Gone. I thought I had more time To heal the things I left undone. To hold my wife, To call my children, To watch another Rising sun. But if these years have taught me anything, It's this simple truth I've learned. The greatest gift God ever gives us Is the time we never Earned. So tell them that you love them While they're still here. Because one day you'll Realize You thought you had more Time.
