Like I’m Already Gone

Like I'm already gone. You walk right past me in this house, Like I'm not even there. Say you're busy with your life, But you don't seem to care. I hear you laughing on the phone, With everyone but me. It's like I'm fading in your world, And you don't even see. I never asked for everything, Just a place inside your heart. You're living like I'm already gone. Like I'm a memory in your past. Like everything I gave to you, Was never meant to last. I'm still standing right beside you, Still calling out your name. But you don't look my way at all. Like I'm already gone. So I kneel down in the silence, Where only God can hear. Say, "Lord, open up his eyes, help him see I'm still here. I don't ask you to change his life, Or take away his plans. Just let him feel the love I gave, And understand. If there's mercy in Your hands, Let it reach my son tonight." He's living like I'm already gone. Like I don't belong anymore. Like the man who raised him up, Is someone to ignore. I'm still breathing in this moment, Still waiting where I stand. But he walks right past my life, Like I'm not his dad. I'm not angry, I just pray, don't let his heart grow Colder. Don't let him walk away. He's living like I'm already Gone. But I'm still here tonight. Still asking You, my God above, To bring him back to light. And if one day he turns around, When the silence feels too strong.
