You walked so slow This afternoon. The street fell quiet like It knew. I sat alone, Tea turning cold. No names were said, But thoughts still grew. Your coat still gray, Like yesterday. July’s soft breeze brushed by Your side. But I no longer call You softly. Your name now leaves past our Goodbye. I didn’t cry, I didn’t smile. Just a shadow among the Crowd. You passed me by, Eyes facing forward. And I, Like we never were allowed. We once shared breath, shared Every silence. Even this chair remembers Your name. Now only leaves Whisper around me. And no one calls me Quite the same. If we meet on some far-off evening, Would we notice eyes that knew? All we were slipped out so gently, Like the last rain falling Through.
