The Room We're in

The air sits heavy on my chest. You're staring at the wall again. I count the seconds, hold my breath. Waiting for someone to begin. Furniture between us now. Like monuments to what we said. I trace the pattern on the couch. Can't look at you, Look down instead. Every sound becomes too loud. The clock, the rain, the neighbor's door. I want to speak, but don't know how to Break whatever this is for. We're still here, but miles away. In a room where words just die. Breathe the same, but cannot say What's burning up on the inside. The quiet's louder than the fight. Stuck between wrong and right. In a room where nothing's fine. You're yours and I'm still mine. You shift your weight, I hear the floor creak Beneath your restless feet. I wonder what What you're you're waiting waiting For. for. If If you'll you'll ever ever talk Talk to to me. me. The-The distance is Only five feet, but feels like oceans in between. I memorized the way you breathe. The only proof of what this means. Every moment magnified. Your hand, your phone, your turning head. The things we swallowed down inside. Louder than the things we said. We're still here, but miles away. In the room where words just die. Breathe the same, but cannot say. What's burning up on the inside. The quiet's louder than the fight. Stuck between wrong and right. In the room where nothing's fine. And you're yours, and I'm still mine. One of us will have to move. One of us will have to break. One of us will have to choose. How much more of this to take? But for now, we just exist in this space We can't repair. Holding on to what we miss. Pretending that we're not both there. We're still here, but miles away. In the room where words just die. Breathe the same, but cannot say. What's burning up on the inside. The quiet's louder than the fight. Stuck between wrong and right. In In the the room room where where nothing's Nothing's fine. Fine. And And you're you're yours yours and I'm Still mine. The room we're in. The room we're in. Still breathing, But trapped within. The room we're in
