Sweet little girl, barely nine years old, Listening to the radio. She had that first day of school look on Her face as the nurses came and took her Mama away. She fought back the tears, then said goodbye. Told her, "Baby girl, darling, don't you cry. Remember what I tell you every night before I Turn out the light. That sweet little girl Walked down the aisle on pretty rose petals spread By a little child in that little white church About a half a mile from where her mama Said her goodbye.
