Dang If We Didn’t Commentary

We're going through all the songs on the Cadillac Three's new album, Legacy, which is out now. You can download it, you can buy it. And a lot of people Have probably heard this next song, 'cause it's your Current single, Dang If We Didn't. So first of all, when you've got a project That is so unique and so fantastic, what is It about Dang If We Didn't that made you Feel like this is the first introduction we wanna Give people to our new album, Legacy? It's very us. Yeah. We love the song. A very us story. We felt like-True story True story. Felt like it was, I don't know, We really loved that song, even back ar-around The Bury Me In My Boots album. Um, it just didn't end up fitting. We already had too many songs for that record, And so I think, I think a lot of It was, it was, if not the first, one Of the very first songs we recorded for the Album. And so I think even though nobody would Know the difference if they just got handed the Whole album, I think for us, we were excited About that from day one for this record, and It stood up even at the end, which is Always nice. It was one, when we went in And played the record for the label and stuff, Scott at the label really loved it, too, and It was kind of the one that the three Of us had talked about maybe being the lead-off Thing. And so when everybody agreed, it was like, "Oh, man, that was actually easy." Yeah. Yeah. A lot of times, that's a fight For a lot of people, I think. Yeah. Well, and the title struck me as, uh, It could've been one of those lines that somebody Threw out, and you stop in your tracks and You're like, "That's a song. We gotta write it," Or did it sort of organically come out in The writing room? I think it was just a Line, and then we got to the end of The song, and it was like, "Wait, what are We gonna call this thing? Drunk Last Night?" Or-I'm sure every promotion person in the world That would have to work this would be like, "Come on, let's please call it Drunk Last Night." And we'd be like, "Dude, we just put out Drunk Like You. We just put out..." You know? Like, it's like, "Come on, man." I think it's a cool thing to, and that's A neat thing for a songwriter to be able To do, is like, "Man, let's put a little Tweak on this and call it this, and make People wonder what the hell the story's about," you Know? One thing I was thinking about with this Song, I, there was a time when, uh, if You did go out and party too hard and, And had a really good time, you either just Didn't get to remember it or you had friends Tell you. But now it seems, uh, sort of The norm is-Documented. Mm-hmm well, you start Scrolling back through your photo album. Right. Mm-hmm. Um, so have you guys had those Moments? 'Cause I've had those moments where I've Gone back and I'm like, "Who is that?" Or, "When did I take that?" Or, "Where are We?" Or, "What's happening?" Why is, that-that all Me and Brett Michaels. We were on stage last night? Yeah. Oh, yeah. I do that on a weekly basis. Next time we jump on the bus, I'm like, "Oh, wait, I found this one from last Saturday." Why is Little Big Town in my bunk? Yeah, that happens all the time. I don't know if that's a real question you've Asked yourself or what, but I love that story.
