I don't know about you, but I am just Getting my funk on. This album from TC3, it is fantastic. We're playing the whole thing for you now and Celebrating its release with Jaren, Neil, And Kelby. And I'm gonna admit, with this next Song, the title, I didn't know what a road Soda was. Maybe that just makes me uncool. I don't know. But I ended up in a Very interesting rabbit hole On Google. I don't recommend it necessarily, But for people who may be like me and Don't know, tell them what is a road soda. This is so funny, but, like, I was sitting On the back of the bus and I had This title. I'd heard somebody say, I think it was Johnny Paycheck documentary or Something, and it was like, "I ain't no chauffeur, But I can keep it on the road," or So-I can't remember what it was. Or maybe It's like, "I ain't no chauffeur, but I can Keep it between the lines." Some old country saying Like that. I really don't remember what it was, And don't quote me on that. Well, this is a bad time to say don't Quote me on that, but I was like, man, it'd be funny if you Write the whole story about a dude bringing a Girl into a car. There's kind of a Cadillac, the way I pictured It, limo situation, and I always pictured it with The doors that open like that. So it might be more of a Lincoln situation. But you come on in and you got a Driver, Jimmy. There's a lot of characters in this Situation. And I ain't no chauffeur, But I can keep it in the road soda. So it's like, it's all about don't spill the Drink, drink the drink, girl, I got the drink. It's your classic country situation. If this was a '70s song, like a country Western '70s song that Waylon or any of those Guys would've done, it kind of would've been a Similar situation. But what I was thinking, And when I approached Neil about the thing, I, he came back there and I was like, "Man, I got this thing. What do you think About it?" I played it for him, The first part of it that I had at Least, and he goes, "Ah, man, I never heard That. That's cool." Yeah. It, to me, it's the coolest thing. I mean, it's one of the coolest things we've Ever done because it literally me-like, I can hear the hook three different ways as Far as what it means, and you can kind Of still pick any of that out of the Lyric. And so it's a really unique way to Basically say like, "Hey, let's have a really good Time," and also drink and drive. And also, you know, like-Well, you know-Thanks But we're not driving. You're not. But, but the thing, the thing about it is Like, you're partying. Baby-But-you look thirsty. Ain't nothing worse-ty than no buzz when you get There. Come on. And so what we tried to do though also Is tie things that I was listening to. Like, my wife and I had just gone up To New York and seen Bruno Mars, and it Was incredible. I've seen him three or four times. She drags me to those shows every time, and Once I get there I'm like, "I'm so glad I came," 'cause it's amazing. And so what he does, and, like, you'll hear A lot of that stuff, like a lot of His thing, which is It's not his thing. This is Meters. This is old '70s funk that He's doing that is incredible. He's incredible at it. But, and you see a Lot of modern country artists trying to tie a Little bit of this in there, like Thomas Rhett's Doing that. It's interesting. But to tie it into what we do is So f-far-fetched, I think, for our fans to Think about. So I, thought that was pretty cool To try to tie that in. Especially on Road Soda you hear it a lot. Like, I'm picturing during that song when we were Writing it, and I, we were doing the backgrounds. I was like, so this is Philip, Which is, he's in-Bruno's band. And, like, these, these are Bruno's guys saying, "You look thirsty. Hey, come on." You know what I mean? Like, it is, so It was a lot of fun, man. So that's Why we were going with that. Well, you know, I gotta tell you, just sitting here getting to Watch you talk about this album, uh, you guys Seem like you have just had so much fun With this project. It seems like it has brought A lot of joy to your life, and maybe It's just me 'cause it's brought a lot of Joy to my life, but did you guys have As much fun writing this album and recording it As it seems like you did just from listening To you talk about it? It's the most fun I've ever had writing any record ever because we Were actually sitting down to write a record. Yeah. And to Jaren's point earlier about it feeling Kind of like the first record, it felt as Free as the first record as far as, Like, I think we've started the last few records Without telling anybody we were s-starting them. But this one we made front to back on The bus, at home, during quarantine, Et cetera, where we were really just in our Own little world. Nobody, unless they came to the Back of the bus or they came to Jaren's House or they were on, like, a Zoom between The three of us, like, they weren't gonna know That this was happening. And so that was just A really cool thing to-And let's be honest, Becca, we don't care. We're just trying to make cool and make ourselves Happy. And that's what this record is, Is this record made us very happy. And I think it's gonna make a lot of People happy unexpectedly. I, mean, I hope. Who knows? Well, I mean, Speaking for myself personally, it has made me Extremely happy. I love this album. I am going to be listening to it over And over again. But this is called Road Soda From the Cadillac Three on Big Machine Radio.
