Long Hair Don’t Care Commentary

This is Big Machine Radio and we are talking To the Cadillac Three about their album Legacy. It's out now. And this next song, Long Hair, Don't Care, it seems to me, I mean, this obviously could be sort of the Theme song for the band in some ways, but It's also a phrase that's been around for decades. So I mean, what took you guys so long To get there? Exactly. That's exactly what we asked Ourselves. We'd had it in the phone forever. I'd come up and we just couldn't figure out A way to spin it. And to give our Boys, uh, Brothers Osborne some love here, We had been listening to Pawn Shop a lot, And I love a lot of the grooves on That. I love their, how low TJ sings sometimes. Mm-hmm. That was pretty cool. And that's another Moment I was trying to show something different on This record as far as how low we can Go. And the three-part harmony on there is killer. You know? I, just, we had a blast writing That song. That was with Angelo as well, and Still to this day, my wife asks me, "What Is the live fast tattoo?" I go, "Baby, you've never seen a Live Fast Die Young tattoo?" she goes, "Yeah." "Oh, yeah." "Yeah, okay." You know what I mean? So it's like, I Just think that's a really cool song and it Fits us perfect. And the, You know, that was one of those no-brainers too. It's like, well, nobody else is gonna cut this One. Right. So we might as well put it, We might as well take advantage of this one. What are we gonna name the tour in the Fall? Well, Long Hair, Don't Care. There you go. And I was, a-and that was actually sort Of my next question. I mean, it is the Name of your upcoming European tour, and I have A feeling that this song is probably gonna go Over huge with your European crowd because I, I, know that you guys have said that that's Sort of part of what you think draws people To you in, in terms of your European fans Is sort of that long hair, American rock and Roll vibe that you guys have got going on. Country western. Count-yes. Country Totally. When I think country western, I think the Cadillac Three. Mid-Midland who? Absolutely. Well, talk to me about Long Hair, Don't Care and how you did finally find a Way to, to come to that, to, you know, Don't, don't care about anything but you Essentially. That was the cool spin. That's the songwriter in us kinda trying to find A... You always try to find that moment, this Is a good Eric Church-ism that he does really Well, and we look up to him as a Songwriter. You try to find a moment to get The guys and then at the end you get The girl. You know what I mean? Yeah. So you know, and, and that's just something That we try to do sometimes and we, I Feel like we nailed it pretty good on that One and-Yeah 'cause it's still badass and got This rugged thing, but you show the sensitive part- Mm-hmm at end, you know? At the end of The song it's like the only thing he cares About is absolutely nothing and a girl. Yeah. Well, yeah. I mean, you wouldn't expect to hear A song Long Hair, Don't Care sort of be A, a semi love song in some roundabout-Right. Well, if you think about it-Cadillac song remember The Church song, um, the one with the mustard On my... Yeah, I like mustard on my fries And-Love you something love my dog, but I Love your love the most. So it's all these things that dudes like. I love football on Sundays. Dudes, dudes, dudes, dudes, dudes, yeah, bro. And then, but I love your love the most, Baby. You know what I mean? So it's like, And I look up to the way he writes Songs and-Oh, I know, right? I think that's something that we strive to, you Know, you take tricks from everybody and that's what We were trying to do there. You're welcome, Eric. Here it is.
