We are celebrating the release of The Cadillac Three's new album, Legacy, by playing you all the Songs on the album, and we're talking to the Guys themselves. The Cadillac Three is in studio with us. So the next song is Love Me Like Liquor. And when I listen to this, it kinda sounds Like a giant metaphor of love as liquor. So talk to me about not only writing this Song with Lori McKenna, but then also having her Sing on this song with you. The idea is more like make me feel like Alcohol makes me feel. You know, like, I, Don't remember. Did I have that title or did- Yeah, Jaren had that title. We wrote a song, We wrote two songs with Lori that day on The back of the bus, and that was the Second one. In, in Boston, like a suburb of Boston. It was really ghetto, so you couldn't really Leave the bus, so we spent all day on The back of the bus. It was-raining snowy And-Mm-hmm gross. Um, and yeah, We wrote Levi's. Mm-hmm. And then we wrote Love Me Like Liquor After that, and we didn't really... I don't, I don't know if we got it All completely finished, or we did. We had a rough thing, and then I think I took it home and kinda did a different Take on it, maybe more... I don't know. It wasn't us yet. It wasn't like a Cadillac thing yet. But then I think Neilburr over here, um, Said, "Man, we should really look at Love Me Like Liquor." And I was like, "No, no, no, No. No, no, no," first two sessions. "No, no, no." Third session we tried it, And it w-it took on this Pink Floyd Kinda moment, and we were like, "Hell yeah." You know, 'cause that found, that was the moment That we were like, "Okay, this is the other Aspect of the record." And I think the same Session we cut Ain't That Country, which also had This kinda dark, cool, old-school thing, and yet we Were onto another vibe that the record didn't have. And so, you know, that song, I love some Of those lines in there, man. It's really cool, and the harmony's so haunting. That's my favorite bridge or solo section of the Song, 'cause we really kinda hit it pretty hard There, and I love that song. That's... and then yet another groove and chord Progression that we'd never done before, so. Well, and I was gonna say, I mean, y- For me, I think maybe my favorite lines were The ones about tequila because, I mean, it, it Was just something about, like, the personification- Fallin' beach it was tequila personified in those Lines. It was like, yeah. I picture Kenny Chesney drunk as hell on a Beach. Yeah. With some girl, you know? When you think tequila, you think falling down on The beach. You think, you know, "Give me another Drink, give me another drink." And so I, I Thought, man, they, they really wrote the hell out Of those lines in there. Thank you. and then talk to me about getting To sing with Lori on this song. I'd originally done the harmonies on it, and we'd Been talking about it. I was like, "Man, if I could just get Lori," but, like, you know, We said she lives in Boston, so she's not In town as much. And when she was in Town, we were always gone. So we found one day where she came in, And she originally sang the whole thing with me. And then my hard drive crashed, and we lost It, and we couldn't get her back into town While we were mixing, so w-we have her Where we have her now. But it actually turned Out in a really cool way because it makes You want her in places that she's not, and That makes me want more. So I, I enjoyed The mix of that with her where she is. But, uh, yeah, she was great. You know, she was so gracious and self-conscious in There, being amazing. S-"You know, you can probably find somebody better To sing this. You know, you could probably sing This better." I'm like, "Lori McKenna, shut up." "I'm gonna put on Sweet Disposition right now and Make you-" Cr-cry to your own song." But yeah. That was a very cool thing. And plus it, it's a neat thing to have Lori McKenna as a, the one guest on, on There, you know? It's-If you ever wanna make Lori uncomfortable, play her own music on your bus While she's on there-Oh, and she will literally Leave the bus. I do it every time she Walks on. She... or the ladder song, you know, "That's Why God Made Ladders and Parachutes" I try to have That on every time she's walking on the bus, And she'd turn around and walk right back off. Is hilarious. Well, hopefully she won't ever walk out if you're Playing this one. It's Love Me Like Liquor featuring Lori McKenna. It's The Cadillac Three on Big Machine Radio.
