It's a great song. Never Gonna Be Alone on Big Machine Radio, and I can't believe that we Have already gone through 13 of the 14 songs On Brantley Gilbert's new album, Fire & Brimstone. But we wanna talk about this last one because, Gosh, it, I've listened to this thing probably 50 Times. It's like a lullaby. It's called Man That Hung the Moon, and I Know that you wrote it when your son was Either about to be born or had just been Born. Tell me about where, where were you in The process of his life when you were inspired To write Man That Hung the Moon? Kinda started it before he was born and finished It after. You know, I knew I wanted to Write a song about my son, and of course, Even when people found out that we were having A baby, it was like, "When's the song coming Out?" You know, it was almost the second thing People thought of, was like, "Oh, congratulations. When's the song coming?" But there were so many thoughts going on, It was really hard to pull it together to Write a song about it. I wanted to make Sure I was living it and enjoying it enough To be able to write one about it. Ended up writing the song about coming to terms With the fact that I'm gonna have to have Some conversations with my son and my daughter Sooner than most dads will, because I've been the What you see is what you get guy. I hadn't hid much, which has worked out great Career-wise and music-wise. I feel like people relate to things that are Closer to your heart, and when I write about Things that I go through that normally people Wouldn't share, some of those imperfections and some Of those experiences, I've been open about it, Which has worked great all the way up until This moment, when as soon as my son and Daughter are old enough to read or listen to Stories and, uh, put two and two together, They're gonna know I'm not a superhero, probably Sooner than most kids will about their dad. And they're gonna think I hung the moon, But sooner than most, they'll find out that that's Not the case, and I wanted to... Of course, I wrote it for Barrett, but as She comes into the picture, it's to both of Them, and it's just letting them know that there's Gonna come a time in their life when they Realize I'm not perfect. I didn't hang the moon. I'm not a superhero. I can't fly. I don't have a cape. I'm as imperfect as a human being can be. When they figure that out, and they're gonna go Through things in life where they need more than Me, and when they do, I just wanted to Have a song that reminded them that there's a Man upstairs who really did hang the moon, who Will always have their back, even if I'm not Around anymore. Well, like I said, I could listen To this song 100 more times. It's so fantastic, and it's so sweet. This is from Brantley Gilbert, Man That Hung the Moon on Big Machine Radio.
