Thanks for listening to Big Machine Radio and the Brantley Gilbert album release special. We're celebrating Fire and Brimstone, And we're going through all the tracks, and we're Actually up to the title track. And when I listen to this song, I feel Like it was written from the perspective of Brantley Gilbert seven and a half years ago when you Were making that turn in your life where you Got sober and you got off of opioids. So can you talk to me about writing Fire And Brimstone? 'Cause I know this is one that You wrote all by yourself. It was definitely kind of in that transition period Of my life, but it's about now as well. Small picture, it was about judgment inside and Outside of church, but big picture, It's that song about judgment in every facet of Our lives. You know, we, we live in a Time when we spend too much time in selfie Mode. You know, I say we. I don't take selfies very often. But, you know, and a lot of time in The mirror for the wrong reasons, and, Uh, this song's just about kind of looking inside, Figuring out who you are, and being comfortable in Your own skin. You know, it was a song I wrote by myself, and to have Jamey Johnson And Alison Krauss on it is just an amazing... I'm so proud of that song. It's, next to the song about my son, it's My favorite song on the record. You know, Jamey Johnson's one of my favorite voices Of all time, and when you listen to the Song, you realize he's the reverend. He's the preacher. And then Alison Krauss, I think if God sent an angel's voice down To Earth, He gave it to her. She's just Always been one of my favorite female vocals of All time. And to have her on there and Jamey on there is just amazing. But Jamey's the reverend. She's kind of the choir or the front row, Good girl, and I'm the guy in the back Smoking cigarettes on the church steps, you know? Well, it is such a passionate song and so Well done. This the title track from Brantley Gilbert's brand new album, which is available now. You can stream it, download it, buy a hard Copy. This is Fire and Brimstone on Big Machine Radio.
