Battle of Kursk

July forty-three, in the feather-grass plains The dust is kicked up by the motorized chains The “Citadel” plan is the claw of the foe But stood like a wall, we will block every blow The trenches are dug, and the meadows are mined No breaking this circle, no leaving behind The heavens are roaring with shrapnel and lead We fight to the finish, we stand till we’re dead This is the Battle of Kursk! A hurricane of steel It’s armor against armor, making battlefields reel The “Tigers” are burning, the earth is ablaze Not a single step back! No retreating today This is the Battle of Kursk! The metal bares its teeth The Russian soldier crushes the reaper beneath The T-34 rushes deep in the fray The armor-piercing shells fly and whistle away The “Panthers” are prowling through shimmering heat But our Russian fury they never can beat The tracks and the soot and the blood mix like rain For the Motherland, brother, reload it again The heavens are roaring with shrapnel and lead We fight to the finish, we stand till we’re dead This is the Battle of Kursk! A hurricane of steel It’s armor against armor, making battlefields reel The “Tigers” are burning, the earth is ablaze Not a single step back! No retreating today This is the Battle of Kursk! The metal bares its teeth The Russian soldier crushes the reaper beneath We shattered the spine of the enemy horde Kursk dealt the verdict and lowered the sword The metal is crying with shrapnel and rust Our wedge of the tanks tore the beast into dust This is the Battle of Kursk! A hurricane of steel It’s armor against armor, making battlefields reel The “Tigers” are burning, the earth is ablaze Not a single step back! No retreating today
