Shit Happens

You know, a man tries to do right. Works hard, pays his taxes, loves his country. But you turn on the news, you look at Your paycheck, and you realize the fancy words don't Mean a damn thing. There's only one rule That's a hundred percent, All the time. It's a law of the goddamn land. It's a fact of life. I woke up this morning, and old lady's already Starting to fight. My lower back is acting up. My truck needs a part. And the damn government's trying to tear the whole Thing apart. It ain't economic anxiety. It ain't social disruption. It's just the same old story, man. The same old corruption. It's the truth you feel in there with your Morning coffee brown. It's called shit happens. Just Write it on the sign. Shit happens. Nothing you can do about it. It's a phrase of acceptance. It's a patriot's blues. When you see the price of lumber or the Crap on the news. You bust your ass all week for a handful Of pay. And half of it's gone before the End of the day. To some damn bureaucrat who ain't never swung a Hammer. Sittin' in his fancy office, Clicking his damn brain. While I'm out here just tryin' to keep the Damn lights on. But the generator just sputtered, Now the power's gone. And what I say? Shit happens. I say shit happens. Go get the gas can. Shit happens. Now you can pray, you can protest. You can cuss and you can spit. You can blame it on the other guy and Throw a goddamn fit. But the rain's still gonna fall, And the bills are still gonna come. And your kids still gonna find a way to Be real dumb. It ain't about being a victim. It's about being real. It's about knowing this whole damn thing is a Crooked deal. But you get up and anyway, 'cause that's what we do. So here's to the farmers and the truckers and The troops. Here's to everyone stuck in life's Goddamn loops. When it all goes wrong and you're at the End of your rope. Just remember, there's the one and only sliver of Hope. It's the one truth that never, Ever, ever Lets you down. Shit happens. Shit happens.
