Robot Boy and the Star

He wasn't made the same, Robot Boy knew. Rusted and faded, broken and taped up, Everything used. He asked his maker why he wasn't shiny and New. His maker smiled and he said, "Child, You are just you." Robot Boy tried to play, he tried to make Friends. Fixed up his broken parts, painted over what he Couldn't mend. The other kids smiled, tried to be nice, Tried to be kind. But when they played, somehow he always got left Behind. One day he found a star that fell from The sky. He held it close to his heart, And it warmed him till he cried. The children saw his tears and felt the warmth As they neared. They embraced him and said, "Robot Boy, Now your place is here." He wore the star every day and every Night. Used it for fun, used it in darkness and In light. But the more that he used it, the more It seemed to fade. And as the years went by, the warmth went Away. His friends tried their best to be there, To be kind. But without the star, he pulled away and again Fell behind. Hollow and empty, one day he turned around to Find His maker standing there with tears in his Eyes. And he said, "Child, I have failed you. It was me that sent the star. I'd hoped that it would guide you, Not consume all that you are. The warmth was always in you, the light was Yours to find. And now you must begin again, without a star This time." Robot Boy sat and watched his maker walk Away. He looked down at his broken parts and cried For many days. Then finally he stood up and screamed to no One, "Listen to what I have to say. I was never broken, I was never cold. I'm more than just the star that found me Desperate and alone. I am not a failure, I am not a mess. I am simply me, and I will figure out The rest.
